Job Description
One of the leading financial concerns in the country is looking for as Senior Database Specialist to ensure that their DB2 database environments (DB2 UDB on the mainframe, Linux and AIX, are sustainable, available 24/7 and are running optimally.
Requirements:
At least 6 years database administration experience and knowledge.
Extensive experience as Senior Database Specialists in an organization with a large database environment such as SARS. (At least 2 years)
At least 4 years experience on the relevant operating system (OS/390 or Microsoft Windows)
DB2 UDB databases running on AIX and Linux Planning and configuration of DB2 QMF for mainframe and QMF for Windows knowledge and working thereof.
Knowledge of the SAP server environments and MAS, BDC, SarsBank, Timesheets, Contract Management Visual Basic applications. External Application software: Applix, Great Plains Dynamics and People Tools.
Duties:
The accountabilities this Senior Database Specialist are the same on all different databases, however, the secondary expectations may differ from operating system to another e.g. DB2, SQL, ADABAS, Teradata.
The will need to analyze information requirements and design database systems.
To control, validate and monitor all Database Management systems and supporting software you will also provide reliable, secure, co-ordinated, effective and efficient functioning, of their database software facilities.
