Experienced Java Developer

Job Description

Our client is one of the top software providers in their industry worldwide. With them you will be challenged to write world-class, mission critical software. You will program primarily in Java for both the Windows and AIX platforms and will be challenged to solve hard, real-world problems. You will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Skills:

We are looking for dynamic, talented software engineers who are ready for a challenge where teamwork, technical ability and problem-solving skills are essential.

Excellent object-oriented analysis, design and development skills

Experience using an OO language such as Java or C++. Java expertise with J2SE experience is preferred

Sound understanding of relational databases and SQL, including experience with Microsoft SQL Server.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

A commitment to quality

The ability to work well in a team

The ability to communicate effectively - both verbal and written communication

Meeting any of the following additional criteria would be a plus:

Experience using Python

DB2 LUW experience

AIX (ideally version 5) experience

EFT industry experience

Experience:

minimum of 3 years experience as a developer.

Minimum requirements:

A B.Sc, B.Com or B.Bus.Sci degree majoring in Computer Science, or An Electrical Engineering degree with Computer Science at 3rd year level, or A B.Tech degree with at least 2 years experience as full time developer in a professional development team.

In all cases, experience as a full time developer in a professional development team or an Honours degree in (or higher) in Computer Science, will be advantageous.
