Job Description

Commercial Manager for Mining Industry - Jhb

• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development

• Development of the commercial plan to align with overall regional strategy and oversight of its implementation

• Assist the Head of Business Development and Head of Acquisitions and Divestments (and their teams) to identify and assess potential strategic partnerships

• Provide input and analysis to influence the outcome of divestment, investment and acquisition activity

• Support the South32 regional Exco in developing and maintaining effective relationships with Joint Venture partners.

• Development of communication and engagement strategies with Joint Venture partners

• Plan and coordinate meetings and JV committee meeting for the region

• Manage JV Partner & regulatory approvals including annual budgets, investment decisions and board resolutions

• Ensure the training, development and mentoring of staff to provide appropriate level of competence & resourcing within team

Qualification:

• Post graduate qualification such as MBA, CA or equivalent professional qualification

Detailed knowledge of:

• South African BBBEE requirements and experience in empowerment transactions

• Decision analysis theory and practice

• Corporate finance theory

• Macro economics

• Industry dynamics and price impacts

• Tax structuring

Management of key stakeholder relationships to influence outcomes including:

• Lead Team Members

• Joint Venture Partners

• Regional VP Finance

• Operations Finance

• Investment study teams

• Project delivery teams

• Planning function

• Group Tax
