Assistant RE required for a project in Lesotho
*B Eng in Civil Engineering
*Registered Professional Engineer
*A minimum requirement is for the candidate to be well experienced with reinforced concrete and building works of multi-storey buildings. Experience with finishes is essential.
*Hydromechanical installations – Experience with the installation, testing and commissioning of steel pipelines and specials, valves, pumps, flow meters, surge vessels, overhead cranes, hoists and winches (and as a bonus maintenance gates, gate grapples and fine screens).
*HVAC – Experience with the installation, testing and commissioning of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and fire-fighting systems.
*Electrical installations– Experience with installations of electrical reticulation and lighting, switches and sockets, instrumentation, control panels, DB boards, waterproof switch boxes, installation and testing of generators, pump motors, VSD’s, valve power-packs, medium voltage cabling and switchgear, PLC / SCADA and telemetry, UPS, battery and battery charger, earthing and lightning protection.
*Quality control – Very important as this is the emphasis of the Engineer’s site staff. Experience with the quality control procedures at manufacturing facilities of hydromechanical items and at facilities were linings applied.
*Non-destructive testing – Working experience and not simply past observation of the different forms of no destructive testing for welds (radiographic and ultrasonic testing and interpretation of reports, dye penetrant testing) and paint corrosion lining including (i) electrical insulation defects (EID) otherwise known as the wet-sponge testing for detection of pins and holidays, (ii) dry film thickness (DFT), (iii) methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) testing, (iii) wet-sponge testing for detection of pinholes and holidays, (iv) thickness of galvanising and quality control inspections of quality of galvanising.
*Computer skills – Proficient in the use of WORD, EXCELL, PowerPoint and preferably a working knowledge of MS Project.
Written, oral and communication skills– Needs to have a firm command of English and be fully proficient in writing letters, reports, procedures etc. Needs to have good interpersonal skills and be able to lead and motivate a team of Clerk of Works and Inspectors.
*Must have experience in the administration of FIDIC contracts
Key Performance Areas
· Manage site supervision team regarding the construction of a 1.2 m3/s Raw Water Pump Station;
· Assist RE to administer construction contract, to ensure that the quality of materials used, and the workmanship and methods of performance, are in accordance with the requirements of the Specification and good construction practice;
· Liaise with Client and Contractor;
· Deal with claims from the Contractor
· Compile monthly payment certificates;
· Compile reports
