1st Tier Microsoft Support Engineer

My Cape Town client is looking for an enthusiastic bright spark to fill their 1st Tier Microsoft Support Engineer position. You will be providing remote and on-site support to their various clients.

Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, mobile devices and printer issues escalated from the Service Desk Analyst or NOC technicians

Troubleshoot and resolve network related problems including support on Windows Server 2003/8; Small Business Server; AD and Exchange 2007/10

Provide assistance in network and platform installations

Setup and configure desktops and software as required

Educate users as well as junior support technicians as required

Build and maintain a strong relationship with clients

Skills:

Microsoft Office Suites (XP and 2007) including Outlook and Internet Explorer

Troubleshooting

WAN/LAN – Switches, routers, ADSL

TCP/IP, wireless and Ethernet

Ability to asses, prioritize and manage workload

Work on a SLA

Configuration and Support on wireless technologies

VMWare, HyperV

Installing Windows 2003/2008 Servers or SBS 2003/2008

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12

N+ and A+ qualified

MCSE 2003 / MCITP, or higher diploma/certification

Minimum of 3 years’ experience

Previous experience working for an IT support or outsource provider would be advantageous

Windows Backup and Backup Exec

Active Directory

2nd line support on Windows XP and Vista; Windows Server 2003/8; Small Business Server 2003/8; Exchange Server 2007/10; ISA Server 2006

Antivirus software (Trend Micro)

Commitment to work on weekends (occasional) and willingness to provide after hour support
